Château Kirwan: The Elegance of a Grand Cru Classé from Margaux

Located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, one of the most prestigious in Bordeaux, Château Kirwan stands out for its history, its terroir, and the exceptional quality of its wines. Classified as a Third Growth in the famous 1855 classification, this wine estate is a jewel of the Bordeaux vineyards.

A Unique Terroir

Château Kirwan is ideally situated on the heights of the Cantenac plateau, benefiting from an exceptional terroir. The estate spans 40 hectares of vines divided into 46 distinct plots, each contributing to the complexity and richness of the wines produced. This unique terroir, combined with ancestral know-how, enables Château Kirwan to produce wines of great finesse.

A Harmonious Composition

The vineyards of Château Kirwan consist of four typical Médoc grape varieties, each contributing its own character to the wine. Cabernet Sauvignon, which makes up 45% of the vineyard, provides structure and aging potential. Merlot, at 30%, softens the blend with its fruity notes and roundness. Cabernet Franc (15%) adds a touch of aromatic complexity, while Petit Verdot (10%) completes the blend with its powerful tannins and deep color.

A Carefully Mastered Aging Process

The grand vin of Château Kirwan undergoes meticulous aging, with an average of 40% new oak used for each vintage. This 20-month barrel aging allows the wine to refine and develop its full aromatic complexity. Although 20 months may seem long, it is only a step in the wine's life, which will require many more years in the bottle to reach its peak.
