Château Haut-Batailley, a prestigious wine estate, spans 22 hectares in the renowned Pauillac region of France. Classified as a 5th Growth in the official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification, this château is renowned for producing wines of great finesse, characterized by remarkable density and harmonious balance.
Located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, the vineyard of Château Haut-Batailley benefits from an exceptional terroir that enables it to produce wines of very high quality. The estate’s grape varieties are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, which makes up 70% of the vines, followed by Merlot (25%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). This subtle combination of grape varieties gives the château’s wines an elegant structure and unique aromatic complexity.
The history of Château Haut-Batailley is closely linked to that of the Pauillac region. It is said that the château’s name comes from a battle that took place on its lands between the English and the French during the Hundred Years' War. This historical past gives the estate a particular aura, reinforcing the image of tradition and prestige that surrounds its wines.
Château Haut-Batailley is owned by François-Xavier Borie, a respected figure in the wine world. In addition to this estate, he is also the owner of Château Grand Puy Lacoste, another Classified Growth of Pauillac. In addition to the grand vin, Château Haut-Batailley also produces a second wine, Château la Tour l'Aspic. This second wine, crafted with the same care and from the same terroir, offers an interesting alternative for Pauillac wine lovers, with characteristics that reflect the elegance and finesse inherent to the estate.
With its rich historical heritage, exceptional terroir, and carefully selected grape varieties, Château Haut-Batailley remains one of the jewels of the Pauillac appellation. Under the enlightened management of François-Xavier Borie, this estate continues to produce world-renowned wines, both elegant and powerful, that captivate enthusiasts and connoisseurs of great Bordeaux wines.
