Château Pedesclaux: A Renewed Jewel in the Heart of Pauillac

A 5th Growth from 1855 with Untapped Potential

Classified as a 5th Growth in 1855, Château Pedesclaux stands out among the great wines of Pauillac, a region renowned for the exceptional quality of its terroirs. However, despite this prestigious classification, the estate was still far from fully realizing its potential at the beginning of the 21st century. It wasn’t until 2009 that Françoise and Jacky Lorenzetti, visionaries in the wine world, decided to acquire this sleeping jewel, with the firm intention of elevating it to the rank of the greatest.

An Ideal Geographical Location

Located in one of the most beautiful areas of Pauillac, in close proximity to the famous estates of Pontet-Canet, Mouton Rothschild, and Lafite Rothschild, Château Pedesclaux benefits from a strategic location. This proximity to the giants of the Pauillac appellation enhances the potential of the estate, which was just waiting to be awakened by expert hands.

An Ambitious Investment Program

From the moment they acquired the estate, the new owners launched an extensive investment program to transform Château Pedesclaux. A top priority was the thorough restructuring of the vineyard, with the acquisition of new high-quality plots, optimizing the expression of the terroir.

One of the flagship achievements of this project is the construction of a gravity-fed cellar. Designed to respect the original quality of the grapes, this innovative cellar allows for winemaking under ideal conditions while preserving the integrity of the fruit.

A Team of Experts to Lead the Renewal

The success of a viticultural project of this magnitude requires assembling the best talents. To carry out the transformation of the estate, the Lorenzettis called upon Vincent Bache-Gabrielsen, a recognized technical expert who had already proven himself at Château Lilian Ladouys, another family property in Saint-Estèphe.

Emmanuel Cruse, co-owner of Château d’Issan in Margaux, was appointed managing director of Château Pedesclaux. His experience and expertise are invaluable assets in steering the estate's renaissance. Since 2013, renowned consulting oenologist Eric Boissenot has contributed his expertise during the crucial phases of winemaking and blending, ensuring the quality and typicity of the wines produced.

An Architectural Signature by Jean-Michel Wilmotte

The reconstruction of the cellars and the château was entrusted to renowned architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte. Known for his projects that blend modernity with respect for heritage, Wilmotte succeeded in giving Château Pedesclaux a contemporary dimension while preserving the historical essence of the property. His project of excellence harmoniously integrates into the landscape of Pauillac, reflecting the grandeur of the estate.

The wines of Château Pedesclaux now embody the characteristic density of Pauillac. Rich, complex, and elegant, they captivate even the most discerning enthusiasts. In short, under the leadership of the Lorenzettis and with the support of a team of experts, Château Pedesclaux has regained all its splendor.
