Château Ausone is a 1st Grand Cru Classé A from Saint Emilion. Alain Vauthier has been managing the property since 1997. The 7 ha vineyard develops on calcareous and clay-limestone soil. The vine has an average age of 50 years. The grape varieties are 45% Merlot and 55% Cabernet Franc. Ausone Castle is a rare wine, on average 15,000 to 18,000 bottles are produced each year. It is a powerful and very aromatic wine from Saint-Émilion. His second wine, Chapelle d’Ausone, produces 4,000 to 10,000 bottles depending on the quality of the vintage.
