L'histoire
The history of Moët & Chandon dates back to the 18th century, to the time of Claude Moët, a wine merchant from the Champagne region of France. Claude Moët was a visionary entrepreneur who understood the potential of Champagne sparkling wine on the international market. In 1743, he founded the Moët & Chandon trading house in Épernay.
The reputation of the Moët & Chandon champagne house began to grow under the leadership of Claude Moët, who was able to develop solid business relationships and expand its exports to foreign markets, particularly in England. Moët & Chandon wine was increasingly appreciated for its exceptional quality and effervescent character.
Over the generations, the champagne house continued to prosper, and in 1833, Claude Moët's grandson, Jean-Remy Moët, established close ties with the Russian market. Moët & Chandon champagne also gained worldwide fame through influential figures and royal courts, contributing to its reputation for excellence.
A key moment in the history of Moët & Chandon came in 1869 when the house merged with the renowned champagne house, Chandon. This merger gave birth to the emblematic name “Moët & Chandon” that we know today. The merger also brought technical innovations, notably the use of cellars dug into the chalk for aging champagne, which helped to improve the quality of the wines produced.
Moët & Chandon has become synonymous with celebrations, luxury and elegance. The champagne house continued to innovate throughout the 20th century, introducing special vintages and limited editions. It has also strengthened its presence in the global market, becoming one of the most iconic champagne producers.
To this day, Moët & Chandon continues to be a reference in the world of champagne. The house offers a varied range of vintages, ranging from the famous Moët Impérial to more exclusive editions like Dom Pérignon. It remains dedicated to the art of assembly, quality and innovation, while preserving the rich heritage that began more than 250 years ago.

THE PROPERTY
With its 1,150 hectares of lush limestone soil, 50% of which are classified as grand crus and 25% as premier crus, the history of Moët & Chandon is part of the richness of these lands.
Made from the three predominant grape varieties of Champagne - Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay - the champagnes of this house come from the most illustrious vineyards present in the five main zones of the region. The richness and abundance of these vineyards offer the house the possibility of selecting the best to create its vintages.
The Moët & Chandon vineyards, spread between the Montagne de Reims, the Côte des Blancs, the Marne Valley, Sézanne and the Aube, offer privileged access to an exceptional diversity of wines. In fact, the house owns 75% of the Champagne vineyards, which represents 234 of the 319 Champagne crus, all of the 17 Grands Crus, and 70% of the 44 Premiers Crus spread across 31 villages.
The exceptional variety of fruits and vineyards ensures a selection of grapes of the highest quality, thus guaranteeing the consistency of Moët Impérial and the singularity of Grand Vintage.
Made by combining the three predominant grape varieties of Champagne - Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay - our champagnes come from the most prestigious vineyards spread across the five main zones of the region. THE KNOW HOW
The historical know-how of Moët & Chandon combines with cutting-edge technology to shape the harmonious and world-renowned balance of champagnes. Moët & Chandon's distinctive style is characterized by bright fruitiness, a savory palate and elegant maturity, resulting from a slow, gradual progression from vineyard to cellar.
Each step of the process relies on the complementary know-how of winegrowers, cellar staff, oenological teams and other professionals. Benoît Gouez, as Cellar Master, deploys his artistic talent to ensure the unique character of Moët & Chandon champagnes. Its know-how and integrity are of paramount importance in the optimal extraction of each harvest, aiming to “highlight and enhance the special characteristics of each grape harvested in Champagne”.
Moët & Chandon's vintage champagnes, grouped under the Grand Vintage collection, are made from the harvest of a unique, exceptionally remarkable year. Each Grand Vintage is a unique creation, endowed with inimitable qualities which distinguish it from the other wines of the House, thus reflecting an exceptional annual harvest.
The expression of each Grand Vintage results from the know-how, experience and expertise of Moët & Chandon cellar manager, Benoît Gouez. Since 1842, the House has produced 76 vintage champagnes, all carefully preserved in the Grands Vintages Reserve, located in the heart of our cellars.

MOËT & CHANDON BRUT - IMPERIAL
Brut Impérial has been the House's signature Cuvée since 1869. Moët Impérial is the most accomplished and universal expression of Moët et Chandon taste. Made from a blend of more than 200 wines, it harmoniously combines the three Champagne grape varieties with between 30 and 40% Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier and 20 to 30% Chardonnay.
Its color is yellow, elegantly golden, adorned with green reflections. Its nose reveals white-fleshed fruits (apple, pear, white peach), citrus fruits (lemon), complemented by floral nuances (lime blossom), and blond notes (brioche and fresh walnuts). His mouth is tasty and melted. Combining generosity and subtlety, full and tasty, then crunchy and delicately fresh (pome fruits), it embodies the balance of champagne.
Rosé Impérial embodies the spontaneity par excellence of the Moët & Chandon style. It combines the diversity of grape varieties, the richness of the terroirs and the Champagne harvest to fully reveal the complexity that characterizes it. This champagne is distinguished by its radiant color, its intense fruitiness and its flamboyant palate.
The blend of Moët Rosé Impérial highlights the complementarity of the three grape varieties that compose it: the intensity of Pinot Noir, the roundness of Pinot Meunier and the elegance of Chardonnay.
Its radiant pink color, predominantly red accompanied by subtle purple reflections. Its aromatic bouquet is of remarkable intensity, offering liveliness with notes of small summer red fruits such as strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant. These aromas are complemented by delicate floral notes of rose and hawthorn, enhanced with a hint of pepper.
CHAMPAGNE MOËT & CHANDON - GRAND VINTAGE
Grand Vintage is an original and unique vintage from Moët & Chandon, produced only in the best vintages to reveal the exceptional character of unique years. These exceptional champagnes are distinguished by their maturity, complexity and charisma.
Blended with Pinot Noir 33%, Chardonnay 41%, Pinot Meunier 26%, the finesse of Chardonnay is in the spotlight in this 2015 vintage.
In the 2015 vintage, Grand Vintage adorns a beautiful, bright pale yellow color with green reflections. The bubbles are fine and persistent. The nose is a delicate bouquet of white flowers followed by aromas of vanilla and pastry notes of toasted almond. On the palate, the attack is initially ample and smooth, then develops towards a silky and fluid texture. Chardonnay has notes of tangy honey. The whole thing is accomplished, generous and light at the same time.
