copy of Viña Almaviva : Epu 2021
Central Valley - Puente Alto - Red Wine -Epu is the second wine of Almaviva, Chile's emblematic estate, born in 1997 from the collaboration between Philippine de Rothschild (owner of Grands Crus Bordelais, Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Clerc Million...) and Concha y Toro, Chile's wine emblem.
EPU 2022 is a sublime vintage accessible to discover the perfection of the wines of the star estate of Puente Alto.
Blending and aging:
Epu 2022 is made from a blend of 84% de Cabernet Sauvignon, 10 % Carmenere, 5 % Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot.
The wine is aged in one year old French oak barrels that were used to age the first wine of the estate for 12 months.
2022 Tasting notes:
The robe: brilliant, attractive ruby red.
The nose is fresh, pleasant and elegant, with aromas of cassis, cherry, blackberry and fig, dominating a delicate fragrance of vanilla, tea and earthiness.
In the mouth, the attack is supple and round, well balanced between the crunchy red fruit and a silky tannic structure. EPU 2021 is a faithful expression of the terroir of Puente Alto in a cooler vintage than average, remarkable for its freshness and balance.
This delicious and generous wine is the perfect introduction to the exclusive and harmonious world of Almaviva.
This second wine is praised by all critics, James suckling gave it a score of 95/100 and Wine Advocate 93/100.
The advice of 12Bouteilles: A great wine, a must-have, accessible Chilean vintage that we love. Our tasting committee gave it a score of 18/20. A superb accessible wine for this star estate of Chile.
