The colour is a deep red with garnet highlights.
The nose is complex, with notes of red fruit, strawberry, cassis and violet, followed by nuances of finely roasted coffee. Spices and dried fruit hint at barrel ageing.
Juicy on the palate, the wine is dense and complex, with fine tannins and refreshing acidity, showing fine balance and a sensation of pure fruit. The persistent finesse of the ripe, fine tannins gives this bottle great length and a delicious, unctuous palate.
Caro 2022 is a blend of 83% Malbec (the emblematic grape variety of Argentina) and 17% Cabernet Sauvignon (the emblematic grape variety of the Médoc).
50% of the wines were matured in French oak barrels for 14 months, including 18% in new barrels made by the Rothschild cooperage in Pauillac, 25% in wooden vats and 25% in concrete vats..
Caro is the Grand vin of Bodegas Caro, located in Mendoza. The vineyard is planted on high plateaus situated between 800 and 1400 m above sea level, the vineyards of Mendoza are known to be the highest in the world. Sheltered from rain by the mountains to the west and the Pampas to the east, the region is very arid. The wines of Mendoza derive their character from exceptional exposure to the sun and wide variations in temperature between night and day.
