Soufrandière: Saint Véran "La Bonnode" cuvée Ovoïde 2020
Burgundy - Saint Véran - White Wine -2020 marks a great vintage for the white wines of Burgundy. The harvest has not, however, been easy for the winegrowers who have suffered the wrath of many climatic hazards (drought as the first problem). Despite a great heterogeneity and earliness -which demonstrates the great diversity of climates and appellations of Burgundy- the overall quality of the 2020 harvest has not been altered, with fruit that has reached maturity. Marked by a great heterogeneity, the 2020 vintage reflects the diversity of the Burgundy vineyard. The Chardonnays at Saint-Véran are real nuggets; expressive, complex and very fresh.
The Saint Véran " La Bonnode " cuvée Ovoïde 2020 is a plot-based cuvée from Domaine de la Soufrandière. A parcel of 2ha in total, all in one piece and adjacent to La Combe Desroches. The vines are exposed to the East at the foot of the Roche de Vergisson. An idyllic setting, both privileged and protected, making biodynamic practices "easy". The particularity of this cuvée lies in its fermentation process which was carried out in concrete "eggs". A real way to rediscover Chardonnay; the juices are sumptuous and very airy.
Tasting notes:
The color: golden with light green reflections
The nose: on the fruit (green apple) with fine notes of citrus and white flower
The mouth: frank attack, the mouth is lively, greedy and mineral, the end of mouth is long and perfectly balanced
The advice of 12bottles:
The perfect accompaniment to a fatty fish, a seafood platter or a goat cheese, to be served around 12°C
