Nicolas Catena Zapata 2020
Mendoza - Red Wine -The Nicolas Catena Zapata cuvée in the 2020 vintage is a very rich, powerful and silky wine, a blend of grapes from the varieties 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, 21% Malbec.
Robe: Deep, very intense red with significant purple highlights, bright and seductive.
Aroma: Complex and intense, notes of black fruit and dried fruit with minerality at the end. Fine and seductive.
Mouth: Ample attack with soft tannins, round and very seductive finish. Silky;
Vinification: The grapes are harvested by hand and fermentation takes place in small oak barrels, concrete and stainless steel vats, at temperatures of 26-28ºC for around 10-15 days. Post-fermentation maceration lasts between 5 and 10 days
Maturation: The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in vats and is then matured in French oak barrels for 18 months
With its first vintage in 1997, Nicolás Catena Zapata became Argentina's first luxury cuvée to be exported worldwide. The wine recreates the "original Bordeaux blend" of the 18th and 19th centuries, when Malbec dominated Merlot and played off Cabernet Sauvignon in the Médoc. Pre-phylloxera massal selections of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon from ungrafted vines give birth to this wine, which opens a window on the past in the mountain vineyards of Mendoza, Argentina.
The advice of 12bouteilles.com: Open the bottle and if possible decant it at least 1 hour before the tasting so that the aromas regain their fullness. Serve chilled around 18 ° C. This bottle will be perfect with a duck breast, an "entrecôte à la bordelaise".
