Catena Zapata - Nicolas 2021
Mendoza - Red Wine -For the 2021 vintage, Catana Zapata - Nicolas has a new label.
Nicolas Catena Zapata in the 2021 vintage is a very rich, powerful and silky wine, a blend of grapes from 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Malbec and 10% Cabernet Franc.
Colour: Deep, very intense red with violet highlights, brilliant and seductive.
The nose is very pleasant, with fruit dominating, a floral note and a harmonious, greedy and fresh bouquet.
The Palate is vinous, juicy, carried by a fine tension. Crunchy black and blue berries. Perfectly integrated tannins, long, fresh finish..
Vinification: The grapes are harvested by hand and fermentation takes place in small oak barrels, concrete and stainless steel vats, at temperatures of 26-28ºC for around 10-15 days. Post-fermentation maceration lasts between 5 and 10 days
Maturation: The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in vats and is then matured in French oak barrels for 18 months
With its first vintage in 1997, Nicolás Catena Zapata became Argentina's first luxury cuvée to be exported worldwide. The wine recreates the "original Bordeaux blend" of the 18th and 19th centuries, when Malbec dominated Merlot and played off Cabernet Sauvignon in the Médoc. Pre-phylloxera massal selections of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon from ungrafted vines give birth to this wine, which opens a window on the past in the mountain vineyards of Mendoza, Argentina.
The advice of 12bouteilles.com: Open the bottle and if possible decant it at least 1 hour before the tasting so that the aromas regain their fullness. Serve chilled around 18 ° C. This bottle will be perfect with a duck breast, an "entrecôte à la bordelaise".
