Château Haut-Brion 2012
Bordeaux - Pessac-Leognan - 1er Cru Classé - Red Wine -2012 is a very fine vintage for early terroirs such as Château Haut Brion. Merlot is preferred, entering a proportion of two thirds of the blend.
The nose is subtle, elegant and of great complexity. Notes of delicate red fruits, blackberries, blackcurrant, but also warmer such as liquorice, roasting, woody and finally almost floral notes, without being able to determine them with precision.
The palate has a tight structure at first. But, very quickly, we realize that the tannins are coated, making the wine at the same time softer, fat and also juicy and tasty. The wine has a very good length. The 2012 has the potential to compete with the estate's greatest successes.
Blend: Merlot Noir: 65.5%, Cabernet Sauvignon: 32.5%, Cabernet Franc: 2%
Heterogeneity marked this 2012 vintage, from bud break, disrupted by a cool and rainy month of April, to veraison which took place slowly. Fortunately, July and August were ideally hot and dry. This mild summer weather allowed us to carry out very meticulous work in order to reduce the climatic consequences of Spring. For two months, our teams did everything to make the harvest as homogeneous as possible by dropping in particular the grapes that were the most late at the time of veraison. The harvest began, for the reds and whites, under the sun.
The advice of 12bouteilles: This mythical wine must be decanted 2 hour before tasting to appreciate its fair value.
