Château Haut-Brion 2016
Bordeaux - Pessac-Leognan - 1er Cru Classé - Red Wine -Château Haut-Brion 2016
Appellation : Pessac Léognan
Classification : 1er Cru Classé
Premier Cru Classé of Graves in 1855, the only one among Médoc wines, Château Haut Brion is the jewel of the Pessac Léognan appellation. Owned by the Dillon family since 1935, the vineyard is located in the commune of Pessac, a few kilometers south-west of Bordeaux. Its wines are characterized first of all by their discretion, their restraint, then by their unique signature expression of their terroir with notes of chocolate, cedar wood. On the attack on the palate, the tannins are precise and very smooth, then the power of the wines is revealed and the finish is surprisingly long. Superlatives are lacking when it comes to qualifying Château Haut Brion.
Wine Advocate (Robert Parker) Tasting Notes: 100/100
The 2016 Haut-Brion is blended of 56% Merlot, 37.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6.5% Cabernet Franc. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the nose is at once profound and arresting, offering drop-dead gorgeous Morello cherries, lilacs and red rose scents with a core of Black Forest cake, warm blackcurrants and blueberry preserves plus wafts of sandalwood and underbrush. Medium-bodied, the elegantly crafted palate is completely packed with intense floral, mineral and cassis-laced flavors with a firm frame of very finely pixelated tannins and seamless freshness, finishing very long and achingly stunning.
