This 2014 vintage is composed of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. The wines were aged in oak barrels with 50% new barrels for a period of 14 months.
Château Lafon-Rochet 2014 is a magnificent Saint Estèphe of great freshness, with beautiful fruit notes and perfect amplitude. The dress is dark worthy of the greatest wines of Saint-Estèphe.
On the palate, a beautiful acidity gives way to an almost tender mid-palate, with fine, elegant and creamy tannins. 90/100 Robert Parker : The 2014 Lafon Rochet has a very attractive, slightly floral bouquet with raspberry and crushed strawberry fruit, a touch of rose petals lending this a feminine allure. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, ripe tannins. This feels quite dense in the mouth, a welcome pinch of white pepper and cedar lending complexity to the finish with tart cherries on the aftertaste. This is probably more forward than other Saint Estephe wines, but it should give 15-20 years of pleasure.
