Château Margaux is clearly living up to its reputation as the Margaux 1er Cru Classé of the Médoc, with wines of great finesse and complexity.
This 2018 vintage of Château Margaux is one of the estate's great wines and one of the best of recent years.
Tasting notes of the 2018 vintage:
The colour is a beautiful deep, intense purple
The nose reveals notes of Morello cherry, black fruit, with nuances of floral and woody notes, black olives, with a gentle wave of liquorice emerging carefully
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, with incredible concentration, notes of red and black fruit, exceptionally high tannins, ripe and fine-grained, and surprisingly fresh.
The blend of the 2018 vintage is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
12bouteilles suggestion: Serve with meat or foie gras. Serve at around 16°-18°C. Decant the bottle at least 4 hours before serving.
