In this 2021 vintage, Pavillon rouge from Château Margaux, made from younger vines, is already a very enjoyable wine to drink.
Rated 94-95/100 by James Suckling, this is certainly the greatest of the second wines!
The colour is a deep, infinite red!
A dazzling nose of concentrated, ripe red fruit and floral notes, followed by a very elegant woodiness.
The palate is full, generous, fleshy and greedy. Fresh on the attack, the mid-palate texture is enveloping, revealing a precise tannic structure and a finesse that is typical of Margaux.
We love it!
Pavillon rouge 2021 and the estate's Grand Vin, Château Margaux, are very similar in style.
Blend for the 2021 vintage: 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and 4% Cabernet Franc.
Ageing: Aged in barrels for 16 months.
