In this 2021 vintage, La Dame de Montrose is a well-balanced, round and charming wine, one that we love at 12bouteilles.
To the eye, the colour is ruby red, almost black, with violet highlights
On the nose, a fine aromatic palette emerges, a blend of black fruits and spices, followed by woody and vanilla aromas
On the palate, the attack is smooth, round, fruity and harmonious, finishing with silky tannins.
La Dame de Montrose is more accessible than its predecessor , Château Montrose, and is a well-balanced blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
This is a supple, round wine with tannins that are still present but ready to drink.
The blend for the 2021 vintage is 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 53% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot.
Ageing: 30% in new French oak barrels for 12 months.
12bouteilles advice: Decant the bottle at least 2 hours before serving, and serve chilled at around 16-18°C. It goes perfectly with red meats, game and cheese platters.
In the appellation Saint-Estèphe, you may also like Chateau Lafon Rochet, Château Phélan-Ségur, Château Haut-Marbuzet, Château Montrose ou encore Château Cos d'Estournel.
