Château Montus 2019
Sud-Ouest - Madiran - Red Wine -Discover this Château Montus 2019, in the Madiran appellation. Made from a blend of 80% Tannat and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. The terroir is characterised by steep south-facing slopes, intense sunshine and soils covered with coarse Gallet. The subsoil is composed of yellow and red clay. This wine is aged on lees in barrels for 12 to 14 months, 60% of which are new.
Tasting notes:
Colour: Deep, intense ruby
On the nose: aromas of ripe black fruit, black cherry and liquorice, with subtle hints of spice.
On the palate: Powerful and structured, with velvety tannins and a long finish.
12bouteilles advice: Already delicious to drink if you like young, powerful wines and if you take care to decant it. It gradually acquires its mature character while retaining its fruit (Cellaring potential 8 to 15 years). Be sure to decant before serving, between 16°C and 18°C. This red goes wonderfully with duck, game and red meat.
Château Montus is located in the South-West of France, near the towns of Pau and Tarbes. The estate is run by Alain Brumont. The vineyard extends over 190 hectares on a unique terroir. The cuvée Prestige is the estate's flagship wine. It has propelled Alain Brumont to the top of the Madiran appellation. In fact, he is nicknamed ‘The Petrus’ of Madiran.
