Bordeaux - Pauillac - 2nd Wine - Red Wine -Les Griffons de Pichon Baron 2020 is a wine we loved, a Pauillac elegant, refined and with magnificent length.
The color is dark, intense garnet red. The nose gives off aromas of black fruit, blackcurrant, blueberry and a refined woody note. The palate is smooth and velvety, with delicate, precise tannins. Buoyed by great maturity, reflected in the quality of the fruit, the finish is savory, elegant, racy and opulent, without heaviness.
The blend consists of 50% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% de Petit Verdot.
The wines were aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which were new and 50% one-wine.
Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is one of the estate's two second wines. Created from the 2012 vintage, it has a pure, straightforward character. The grapes that make up the blend for this wine come mainly from gravelly plots close to the Gironde estuary, ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon. Les Griffons is an invigorating, fresh, full-bodied, straightforward and energetic experience. This wine can be cellared for over 20 years, but can be enjoyed now.
12bouteilles' advice : Château Pichon Baron 2019 is a wine that will have to wait a few years before reaching maturity. If you decide to taste it, decant the bottle at least 2 hours before tasting, it will go wonderfully with your red meats. Serve chilled at around 16°C.
