To the eye, the colour is a dark purple-black.
The nose is intense and aromatic, releasing notes of black fruits such as blackberries, cherries and blueberries.
On the palate, this is a wine of great finesse, full-bodied with magnificent concentration and ripe tannins that are still firm. A lovely aromatic freshness and black fruits round off the long finish. The tannins are powerful yet very fine.
The blend of this 2021 vintage is made up of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Merlot.
The wine was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 70% in new barrels and 30% in one-wine barrels.
12bouteilles advice: Château Pichon Baron 2021 is a wine that should wait a few years before reaching maturity. If you decide to taste it, decant the bottle at least 6 hours before serving. It will go wonderfully with red meats. Serve chilled at around 16°C.
