Les Griffons de Pichon Baron 2021
Bordeaux - Pauillac - 2nd Wine - Red Wine -Les Griffons de Pichon Baron 2021 is an elegant, refined Pauillac with perfect balance.
The colour is dark, intense garnet red. The nose gives off aromas of black fruit, blackcurrant and blueberry, as well as a refined woody note. The palate is soft and velvety, with delicate, precise tannins. Buoyed by great maturity, reflected in the quality of the fruit, the finish is savoury, elegant, racy and opulent, without heaviness.
The blend is made up of 44% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Petit Verdot.
The wines were matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, 40% of which were new and 60% one-wine barrels.
Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is one of the estate's two second wines. Created from the 2012 vintage, it has a pure, straightforward character. The grapes that make up the blend for this wine come mainly from gravelly plots close to the Gironde estuary, ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon. Les Griffons is an invigorating, fresh, full-bodied, straightforward and energetic experience. This wine can be cellared for over 20 years, but can be enjoyed straight away.
12bouteilles' advice : Château Pichon Baron 2021 is a wine that should wait a few years before reaching maturity. If you decide to taste it, decant the bottle at least 2 hours before serving. It will go wonderfully with red meats. Serve chilled at around 16°C.
