The 2020 vintage of Château Pontet Canet is a very great vintage, rated between 98/100 by the critics.
The wines are fantastically elegant, with impressive aromatic power and a perfect balance between its richness, tannins and acidity.
The colour is an intense, dark red, with a very aromatic nose of black fruit. The palate is full on the attack, full and rich in the mid-palate, then the long finish leaves aromas of silky tannins.
A great vintage of Pontet Canet without a doubt.
Assemblage: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot , 4% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot.
Maturation: 50% in new French oak Futs, 35% in Dolia amphorae (concrete vats made with Pontet Canet earth) 15% in one-wine barrels.
This bottle should be forgotten for a few years in your cellar, as time will improve it! If you feel like tasting it, decant the bottle at least 6 hours before serving. It will go wonderfully with red meats and cheeses.
