Château Pontet Canet 2021 is a truly great, typical Pauillac wine, rated 95/100 or higher by all tasters.
The color is an intense, dark red, with a very aromatic nose of black fruits. The palate is ample on the attack, full and rich on the mid-palate, and the finish is very long, revealing aromas of silky tannins.
The wines are beautifully elegant, with impressive aromatic power and a perfect balance between richness, tannins, and acidity. For us, this is one of the best wines of the vintage.
The 2021 vintage blend is composed of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot , 4% Cabernet Franc et 6% Petit Verdot.
The wine is aged 50% in new French oak barrels, 35% in Dolia amphorae (concrete vats made with Pontet Canet soil), and 15% in former barrels.
12bouteilles' Advice: This bottle should be left in your cellar for a few years; time will improve it! If you feel like tasting it, decant the bottle at least 6 hours before serving. It will pair wonderfully with red meats and cheeses.
In Pauillac appellation, you may also like Châteaux Latour, Lafite-Rothschild, Mouton-Rothschild, Pontet Canet, Lynch-Bages, Pedesclaux, Pichon Baron, Pichon Lalande, Grand Puy Lacoste ...
