Bordeaux - Pessac-Leognan - Cru Classé - Red Wine -Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte 2020 scored above 97 by most tasters, see 99-100% by James Suckling. It is certainly a great vintage at the Château. The Merlots gathered to perfect maturity bring substance and power to the wine, the Cabernets length and freshness.
The wine is intense red, almost black.
The nose is expressive with aromas of black fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry), followed by spices (cloves, cinnamon, liquorice) and small touches of gunflint very characteristic of the bass.
The palate is ample, powerful, dense and concentrated with great length. The finish in the mouth is persistent, very long, with very silky tannins.
Blend of the 2019 vintage: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc et 1% Petit Verdot.
Ageing: 18 months in barrels (60% new barrels made in the Château's cooperage).
