Clos des Papes 2021

Rhone Valley - Châteauneuf-du-Pape - Red Wine -

Le Clos des Papes 2021, owned by Paul-Vincent Avril, i is one of the critically acclaimed superstars of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.

The 2021 vintage is a blend of 55% Grenache, 35% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah, complemented by the other 13 traditional grape varieties of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Remarkable for its quality, this 2021 vintage is rated 98/100 RVF, 98/100 B+D.

Tasting notes: Clos des Papes 2021

Color: deep red
Nose: notes of red fruit (cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant) and great complexity, with spicy aromas characteristic of Mourvèdre.
Palate: perfect, with controlled power. Velvety tannins, lots of freshness and a great gastronomic wine.

Doubtless more accessible in its younger years than the 2010, 2016 and 2019, with a framework focused on fruit and balance, Clos des Papes rouge 2021 is perfectly balanced with great elegance.

"If the elders got bored planting 13 grape varieties, it's good so that they are vinified together"

Le Conseil de 12bouteilles : This Clos des Papes red 2021 is a sublime Cru cut for laying down which will be at its peak between 2025 and 2035. To be opened at least 2 hours before tasting and to taste on a nice piece of grilled meat, game , or even cheeses.
