Clos Fourtet, Saint-Emilion premier grand cru Classé, is located in the heart of the village of Saint Emilion on the plateau which dominates the vineyard.
The area of 20 hectares of vines is surrounded by low walls which give this bucolic aspect to the classified growths located on this plateau of Saint-Émilion.
Owned since 2001 by the Cuvelier family, Clos Fourtet confirms its place as Premier Cru Classé in 2012 thanks to their passionate work, the estate is currently in conversion to biodynamics.
Fruit of a blend of Merlot (90%), Cabernet Sauvignon (7%) and Cabernet Franc (3%),
Clos Fourtet 2017 is a very great wine with prestigious critics ratings.
The nose is of great aromatic intensity dominated by black fruits. On the palate, the wine is long, fat and silky with dense tannins. The finish is persistent.
Wine Spectator Tasting Notes: 93-96/100
Intense, with blackberry, cassis and boysenberry puree notes racing through, inlaid with subtle anise and black tea details. Offers a gorgeous feel, with a long, fine-grained chalky spine buried on the finish. A beauty.?J.M.
