Domaine de Chevalier blanc 2017
Bordeaux - Pessac-Leognan - Cru Classé - White Wine -Domaine de Chevalier is an emblematic and very old estate of Pessac Léognan. Grands Crus Classés de Bordeaux, siituated in Léognan, Olivier Bernard's property covers 45 hectares of vines, 40 hectares of red vines and 5 hectares of white vines in the capital of the Graves. This 2017 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc is made from a blend of 75% Sauvignon and 25% Semillon grapes. 2017 was a harsh year due to frost, however today it is part of the excellence for a Bordeaux white and is being called a great vintage by the big names in the wine world.
Tasting notes:
The robe: is adorned with a yellow color with light green reflections.
The nose: reveals aromas of ripe pears, apples and white peaches with chalky notes
Palate: full-bodied, the palate is very intense and racy, with many mineral sparks on the finish
12bouteilles advice : To be decanted 1 to 2 hours before tasting and to be served chilled (12-14°C), it will wonderfully accompany a baked fish.
R.Parker Wine Advocate : "Closed on the nose to begin, the Domaine de Chevalier 2017 Blanc (composed of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon) opens to aromas of ripe pears, golden delicious apples and white peaches with notions of straw, honeysuckle and chalk. Medium-bodied, the palate is seriously intense and racy with loads of mineral sparks on the finish. It was aged for 16 months in French oak, 35% new."
