The 2020 vintage, Meursault Goutte d'Or 1er Cru from Domaine Fabien Coche, is made from a single variety of 100% Chardonnay. This cuvée is among the greatest wines of the Meursault appellation offering a unique freshness with a very good ageing potential.
The view is illustrated by a superb pale gold color with green reflections.
The nose is open with notes of lemony citrus, exotic fruits and garden apples.
The palate offers a very nice complexity of aromas, quite fat with a great richness. The mid-palate is perfectly balanced, with buttery and honeyed aromas. The finish is of great length, full of freshness with a touch of minerality worthy of the greatest vintages of the Burgundy region.
Located in Meursault, this family estate has 12 hectares of vines spread over Meursault, Pommard, Auxey-Duresses, Monthélie, Saint-Romain, Saint-Aubin and Pulingny-Montrachet. Created in 1940 and formerly under the name Coche-Bizouard, the Domaine Fabien Coche cultivates all the nobility of the great wines of Burgundy. Thus, he works all his wines with the same care, from the smallest cuvée to the most prestigious.
In his domain of Meursault, on the Burgundy Côte de Beaune, Fabien Coche remains close to the traditional methods they have used since the foundation of the vineyard. He has been working organically for many years on 10 hectares of vines, and the application for official certification was made in 2020.
The soils are plowed by hand and no chemicals are used, neither in the vineyard nor in the winemaking.
The advice 12bouteilles: This sublime first growth with exceptional characteristics has a potential to be kept for up to 10 years. It will be perfect with foie gras, fish, seafood or as a dessert with goat cheese. We advise you to serve it chilled at a temperature of 12°C-14°C.
