Alsace - Alsace - White Wine -This Riesling is a white wine in AOC Alsace produced by Domaine Frédéric Mochel. The Riesling vines are located on the Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergbieten. Because of their youth, they are not claimed as Grand Cru. The vines, facing South-East, are planted on marl-calcoro-gypseous soil, deep and draining. Sheltered by the Balbronn ditch and protected from rain and wind by the Vosges mountains, they benefit from exceptional sunshine.
Tasting notes:
The colour: pale yellow
The nose: Fruity with citrus notes (lemon, grapefruit) and white flower aromas
The palate: Frank and elegant attack, marked by a beautiful vivacity. The finish is long and balanced.
Winegrowers from father to son since 1669, the Mochel family, located in the village of Traenheim, about 20 km west of Strasbourg, cultivates 10 hectares of vines, including 5 hectares in the Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergbieten and 5 hectares in the Traenheim area. Certified High Environmental Value and in the process of conversion to organic agriculture, the respect for the vines and the environment is at the heart of their daily work.
The advice 12bouteilles: This wine will perfectly accompany your fish dishes, an Alsatian sauerkraut or a fresh goat cheese. It is to be served between 10-12°C.
