Génot-Boulanger: Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Clos du Chapître 2017
Burgundy - Aloxe-Corton - 1er Cru - Red Wine -This Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Clos du Chapître 2017 from Domaine Génot-Boulanger is a very big Burgundy wine, both refined and generous. It is the fruit of a plot of Pinot Noir that gathers vines of three different ages with an average age of 50 years and a total area of 0.97 hectares. Located in the heart of the village of Aloxe-Corton, the plot "Clos du Chapître" is entirely enclosed by walls, in the middle of the houses. It takes its name from the "canons" who were important vineyard owners in 13th century Burgundy, they were also members of the colleges surrounding the bishop of Autun called the cathedral chapters.
Through a very low interventionist approach, Domaine Génot-Boulanger likes to let the natural character of the terroir and the vintage express itself through its wine. For this Aloxe-Corton Premier Cru, this translates into a manual harvest, a vatting period of 3 to 4 weeks and a long fermentation (2 to 3 weeks) which is only the product of indigenous yeasts (naturally present in the grapes). Finally, a two-stage maturation with first a passage of 12 months in oak barrels and then 6 months in vats.

The robe: deep red with ruby reflections
The nose: on the red fruit (cherry, raspberry) supported by subtle roasting notes
The mouth: full, round, the tannins are silky and velvety, a lot of length

A Premier Cru that can start to be apprehended now if you like Pinot still young and on the crunch, a few more years of keeping will allow it to assert itself a little more and reveal its full aromatic palette. Ideal with red meat, poultry or soft cheese.
