Génot-Boulanger: Meursault Les Meix Chavaux 2018
Burgundy - Meursault - Village - White Wine -2018 marks the first certified organic vintage for the estate, but also a very good year quantitatively and qualitatively. The wines are extremely fine, gourmand, fleshy and perfectly balanced.
This Meursault Les Meix Chavaux 2018 from Domaine Génot-Boulanger comes from a 0.50 hectare plot of Chardonnay planted in 1970, located at the very top of the hill and facing south. The parcel takes its name from the term "chef val" which refers to the upper valley of a stream but also from "meix" which represents a rural house. The vines are thus planted on the east side, halfway up the hillside and on the immediate edge of the village of Meursault, above the ruisseau des clous.
The Domaine Génot-Boulanger wishes to let the terroir and the vintage express themselves through its wine. The harvest is manual, the grapes are pressed in whole bunches, there is no sulfiting of the must before fermentation, the fermentation is only the fruit of indigenous yeasts... in short an approach which wants to be the least interventionist possible in order to let express the natural character of the wine.
Tasting comments:
The dress: pale gold with green reflections
The nose: lemony, buttered and toasted notes
The palate: very nice salinity, freshness with notes of white pepper and aromatic herbs in retroolfaction.
The advice of 12bouteilles:
A very nice Meursault in a superb vintage to enjoy with shellfish, fatty fish or even a plate of charcuterie.
