Génot-Boulanger: Beaune en Lulunne Blanc 2018
Burgundy - Beaune - Village - White Wine -The 2018 vintage offered generous volumes and superb quality for Burgundian white wines. In particular, the wines of the Côte de Beaune are very expressive, full of fruit, floral notes and on the palate beautiful acidity, balance and substance.
This Beaune En Lulunne 2018 from Domaine Génot-Boulanger is from a 0.24 hectare plot of Chardonnay planted in 1986, located at the very top of the hill and facing south. Lulunne is the name of the spring located in the center of the small village built in Gallo-Roman times and still existing. The vine grows on a clay-limestone and silty soil.
After 12 months of maturation in barrels, the wines are sub-drawn and then transferred to tanks to conclude the maturation with 6 additional months. Seeking the purest expression of the terroir but also of the vintage, the Domaine Génot-Boulanger vinifies its wines in the least interventionist way possible; thus this Beaune Blanc is harvested manually, the grapes are pressed in whole bunches, no sulfiting before fermentation, a long fermentation, no filtration.
Tasting notes:
The robe: Gold with green reflections
The nose: white flower (jasmine, lily), citrus notes
The mouth: lively, fine, very fresh
The advice of 12bouteilles:
A superb Beaune, ready to drink, that will perfectly accompany a cheese platter of shellfish, or even a white meat.
