Domaine Georges Vernay : Condrieu "Les Chaillées de L'Enfer" 2020
Rhone Valley - Condrieu - White Wine -"Les Chaillées de l'Enfer" 2020 is a sublime white wine, 100% Viognier produced by Domaine Georges Vernay. It comes from a plot of 40-year-old vines, terraced on granite soil located in La Caille (in the heart of the village of Condrieu). Aged for 15 months in Stockinger tuns and oak barrels, it is a symbolic vintage of the estate. A wine of great purity with a beautiful firm and tender balance.
Tasting notes:
The robe: pale yellow
The nose: citrus fruits, floral notes (white flowers, rose, violet) and vegetal (mint, thyme) as well as spices (ginger, saffron)
The palate: all in tension, salty, iodized, racy with a beautiful freshness
The advice of 12bouteilles: Serve chilled 10°-12°C. This wine will be perfect as an aperitif or with a fish dish. It can be drunk now or kept for about ten years.
Located in the Rhone Valley, the Domaine Georges Vernay owns 24 hectares of vines, including 17 on the hillsides, spread over 3 appellations: Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph but also 2 IGP Syrah and Viognier. A renowned family estate, it is renowned for its Condrieu and Côte-Rôtie. Since 1940, generations have succeeded one another and today Christine Vernay, daughter of Georges Vernay, is in charge of the property. Certified in organic viticulture, Christine has raised the estate and is recognized as an outstanding winemaker.
