Domaine Georges Vernay : Côte-Rôtie "Blonde du Seigneur" 2020
Rhone Valley - Côte-Rôtie - Red Wine -Blonde du Seigneur 2020 is a magnificent Côte Rotie produced by Domaine Georges Vernay. Made from plots exclusively located on the Côte Blonde, this wine is made from 25-year-old vines on granite soil, a blend of 95% Syrah and 5% organic Viognier. The parcels from which it is made cover an area of 2.5 hectares in the appellation and are farmed organically. The vines are maintained manually without the use of herbicides or pesticides. After three weeks in vats, the wine is aged in barrels for 18 months. A great wine with balance, between finesse and power, a Côte-Rôtie not to be missed.
Tasting notes:
The robe: very deep dark red
The nose: red and black fruits, minerals, spices aromas
The palate: round attack, silky tannins, beautifully smooth and melted finish
The advice of 12bouteilles: Serve chilled at 14°C-16°C. A wine that will go perfectly as an aperitif or red meat dish.
Iconic estate in the Rhone Valley, Domaine Vernay is renowned for its Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu wines. Christine Vernay, who has been in charge of the Domaine and the winemaking for more than 20 years, succeeded her father (Georges Vernay, known for having saved the appellation and the viognier grape variety) and her grandfather (Francis Vernay), who was at the origin of the Domaine, in 1996.
