Domaine Georges Vernay : Condrieu "Coteau de Vernon" 2022

Rhone Valley - Condrieu - White Wine -

Coteau de Vernon 2022 is made from 100% Viognier grapes grown in the Condrieu appellation. The average age of the vines is between 50 and 80 years. The vines are planted on steep granite slopes and harvested by hand when fully ripe.

After direct pressing of whole grapes and static cold settling, fermentation takes place on fine lees. Ageing for 15 months in 15 hl tuns and barrels (10% new) brings richness and aromatic complexity, while preserving the characteristic freshness of Vernon's granite terroir.

Tasting notes:

Colour: pale gold with brilliant highlights.

Nose: highly complex, revealing a range of aromas from yellow fruit (apricot, peach) to candied citrus, enhanced by subtle planty and floral notes.

Palate: full and silky, perfectly balanced by a lovely freshness and delicate bitters. With fine acidity, it continues with hints of menthol and white flowers, revealing all the elegance and precision of this Condrieu.

12bouteilles advice: An exceptional Condrieu from Domaine Georges Vernay, ideally opened 30 minutes to 1 hour before drinking. It is an ideal accompaniment to fine fish, shellfish or poultry with a creamy sauce, and can be cellared for up to 20 years for even greater depth and complexity!
