In this 2022 vintage, Cuvée Blonde du Seigneur is one of the great wines produced in the Côte-Rôtie appellation, an emblematic Cru in the northern Rhône Valley, in a particularly successful year. Made from a blend of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier, the vines are an average of 40 years old and are grown organically on the steep slopes to the south of the appellation.
The grapes, harvested by hand when fully ripe, were vinified partly in whole bunches, with a vatting period of 2 to 3 weeks in stainless steel vats. The wine was then matured for 18 months in barrels of several wines and in Stockinger tuns, preserving the finesse and aromatic complexity of the cuvée.
Tasting notes :
Colour: dark and deep, almost opaque.
Nose: mineral and smoky, with aromas of black fruit, black olive and pepper, enhanced by a subtle floral touch from the Viognier.
Palate: medium-bodied, perfectly balanced between power and delicacy, with silky tannins and a very long finish. All the smoothness of a racy Côte-Rôtie, combining charm and refinement.
12bouteilles advice: An exceptional wine from the northern Rhône Valley that perfectly expresses the ‘Côte Blonde’ style. Open 2 hours before drinking and serve with red meat, spicy dishes or refined game. It will keep for another 10 to 15 years, allowing all the nobility of this unique terroir to express itself!
