Domaine Ratte : Melon à Queue Rouge 2020
Jura - Vins d'Arbois - White Wine -Melon à Queue Rouge 2020, is an AOC Arbois white wine produced by Domaine de Ratte. This 2020 vintage gives very assertive varietal notes, with vegetal notes ranging from cut grass to fennel, the fruit then rounds it all out.
Tasting notes
The colour: clear, golden yellow
The nose: vegetal, cut hay and fennel
The mouth: beautiful roundness on herbaceous notes
This plot selection is a blend composed of 100% Melon à queue rouge (former Chardonnay) on clay-limestone and red and blue marl soils. The grapes are harvested by hand, and there is a maceration in whole bunches in sandstone jars (15 days) with maturation, then rest in stainless steel tanks. The vinification is done without any input, the fermentation is natural (indigenous yeasts), the maturation is in burgundy rooms and without filtration or fining.
Located in the commune of Arbois in the Jura, the Ratte Estate is spread over different sites in the area: Les Corvées, Grand Curoulet, Bésivette, Prélevront, la Régole, Clos Maire and la Bergère. Certified Demeter, Michel-Henri and Françoise Ratte work with their son Quentin. The wines they produce are made entirely from their own vines and they practice biodynamic viticulture.
The advice 12bouteilles: We advise you to taste this 2020 vintage with vegetables in a tagine or spicy food. For a better taste, it will be ideal to serve it at a temperature between 12-14°C.
