Domaine Thomas Morey : Santenay Vieilles Vignes 2022 rouge

Burgundy - Maranges - 1er Cru - Red Wine -

The Maranges 1er Cru La Fussiere 2022 produced by Domaine Thomas Morey comes from the climate of La Fussière, which extends over an area of approximately 35 hectares, positioning it as the largest Cru in the appellation. This plot faces south, mainly located on the hillside whose altitude varies between 290 and 350 meters.

Tasting note :

The dress : pretty transparent cherry red dress

The nose : The nose reveals a deep and spicy Pinot Noir, marked by ripe black berries and cherries. It offers a sensation that is both generous, juicy and refreshing. In the background, notes of wood and pepper appear.

The palate : La Fussière reveals an even more fruity expression than that perceived on the nose, with elegance and pleasure. The ripe fruits of black cherries, blackberries, black currants and some notes of prunes stand out particularly. Lively and present acidity accompanies grippy and fine tannins. The Pinot Noir has a firm, earthy and dark structure, standing out from Thomas Morey's other Burgundy reds, while remaining silky and round.

The 12bouteilles advice : This wine, at a serving temperature of 16°C, goes wonderfully with a pan of mushrooms, cranberries and gorgonzola on toasted bread, as well as with a fillet of beef with Roquefort and pears.

Thomas Morey represents the tenth generation of the Morey family in Chassagne-Montrachet. After witnessing his grandparents' wine business, then that of his parents, where he worked for 12 years, he made the decision, in 2006, to found his own estate with his wife Sylvie. The Thomas Morey estate marked its beginnings with its first vintage in 2007.

The history of the Moreys in Chassagne-Montrachet dates back to the middle of the 17th century, when Claude Morey settled in this village in 1643. Originally from Paris-l'Hôpital, a small town in Saône-et-Loire near Chassagne-Montrachet, he and his numerous descendants devoted themselves to the professions of winegrowers, coopers and foudriers.
