In this 2023 vintage, Le Chouchou stands out as a tender, light, and fresh wine that playfully shakes up the usual codes. Here is our tasting note:
The Color: a bright ruby, with lovely highlights.
The Nose: subtle and expressive, showcasing red fruits (strawberry, cherry) and delicate floral notes.
The Palate: supple and silky, with a light texture. The fresh fruit aromas are complemented by a hint of spice from the Syrah. The refreshingly crisp finish offers discreet tannins, reinforcing its convivial character.
This 2023 vintage of Le Chouchou is crafted from Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault, grown organically on high-altitude sites in the Cévennes and parcels in the Pyrénées-Orientales. The grapes are harvested early in the morning to preserve their freshness, followed by a one-day maceration to extract both color and fruity aromas without imparting excessive tannins. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 3 months in tanks.
Elegantly made, this cuvée distinguishes itself through its low alcohol content, its crowd-pleasing personality, and a fruit-driven aromatic profile reminiscent of a basket of fresh fruit. Its tender, thirst-quenching style makes it the perfect companion for relaxed moments all year round.
The 12bouteilles Advice: Serve this “Chouchou” slightly chilled, between 10 and 12°C, either as an aperitif or with tapas and cured meats. It also pairs nicely with Italian cuisine or a cheese board. Best enjoyed young to take full advantage of its freshness and fruit-forward character.
