In this 2022 vintage, L’Hospitalitas stands out as one of the top wines from the La Clape appellation, a true “superstar” of the Languedoc in a particularly promising year.
L'Hospitalitas is a certified organic (Ecocert FR BIO 01) and biodynamic (Demeter) wine.
Here is our tasting note:
The Color: intense purple, complemented by red highlights.
The Nose: explosive and enchanting, revealing aromas of violets, ripe fruit, and delicate toasty hints.
The Palate: a smooth, beguiling entry, with a broad texture and well-integrated tannins. A powerful, lingering wine that promises excellent aging potential.
This 2022 vintage from Gérard Bertrand is a blend of Syrah and Mourvèdre. Part of the Syrah undergoes whole-cluster fermentation, while the remaining Syrah and the Mourvèdre are destemmed and vinified via traditional maceration over 15 days to 3 weeks. About 12 months of aging in new barrels enhances the phenolic structure and natural sweetness of the cuvée.
Elegantly crafted, L’Hospitalitas benefits from a unique microclimate in the heart of the Château l’Hospitalet vineyard, sheltered by a cliff that moderates the northern winds. This singular parcel, where two limestone terroirs intersect, imparts the wine with its remarkable balance of concentration, freshness, and finesse—a hallmark of a great, age-worthy wine.
The 12bouteilles Advice: A magnificent Languedoc wine, best opened 2 hours before tasting to reveal its full complexity. It pairs beautifully with red meats, grilled poultry, sauced dishes, or aged cheeses. You can also cellar it for 10 years or more to fully appreciate its evolution over time.
