In this 2024 vintage, La Grande Bleue by Gérard Bertrand stands out as one of the finest expressions of the IGP Méditerranée, a terroir bathed in maritime influence. Here is our tasting note:
The Color: pale yellow, bright, with slight green highlights.
The Nose: highly expressive, featuring white-fleshed fruits (pear, peach), citrus (lemon, grapefruit), and subtle floral hints (hawthorn).
The Palate: fresh and airy, with lovely vivacity. The long, saline finish evokes Mediterranean sea spray, creating a wine that is all about balance and purity.
This 2024 vintage of La Grande Bleue is made from a blend of Rolle (Vermentino), Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon. The grapes, harvested during the coolest hours of the day to preserve their aromatic character, are vinified separately at low temperature in stainless steel vats, with no barrel aging, in order to highlight the fruit’s purity and freshness. This organic approach respects the maritime identity of the wine, which derives its minerality from the nearby Mediterranean Sea.
Elegantly crafted, La Grande Bleue 2024 embodies the harmony between the sun-kissed generosity of the South and the finesse imparted by the sea’s influence. Its aromas are clear and precise, and on the palate, a pleasant balance prevails between acidity and roundness.
The 12bouteilles Advice: Serve this white ideally at 10–12°C. Perfect for pairing with seafood, grilled fish, or summer salads, La Grande Bleue 2024 also goes well with more exotic dishes. Its minerality and freshness make it an excellent choice as an aperitif, too!
