In this 2020 vintage, Les Glorieuses du Clos Marie establishes itself as one of the finest expressions of the Languedoc Pic Saint-Loup AOP. Here is the tasting we conducted:
The Appearance: intense and dark, revealing a remarkable depth.
The Nose: evocative of graphite, burnt wood, garrigue, and dark fruit, reflecting the noble heritage of old vines.
The Palate: full and powerful, with mature and dense tannins, well-built and structured, promising an aging potential of at least five years.
This 2020 vintage of Les Glorieuses is crafted from a meticulous blend of Grenache (50%) and Syrah (50%), grown using organic viticulture. The terroir, marked by Quaternary soils and a cone of clay-limestone deposits from the piedmont, bestows this wine with its unique identity. The winemaking process, partly using whole clusters, features a maceration period of 15 to 20 days followed by an aging period of 22 to 24 months in 600‑liter half-muids and in a foudre, ensuring a harmonious structure and a perfect balance between power and finesse.
Full of character, the Les Glorieuses 2020 cuvée embodies the subtle union between the generosity of the Southern sun and the authenticity of an exceptional terroir. Its rich and harmonious profile lends itself to successful aging, promising to reveal all its complexity over the years.
12bouteilles' Recommendation: A red wine to be served ideally between 16 and 18 °C. Perfect when paired with duck à l’orange, wild boar stew, grilled beef, osso bucco, or beef tongue, it will wonderfully elevate rich and flavorful dishes.
