Marques de Riscal Reserva 2020
Rioja - Red Wine -One of the classics of the Rioja region is the exceptional Marqués de Riscal Reserva 2020. This is certainly one of the region's most international red wines. It is made from 3 grape varieties: 90% Tempranillo, 5% Mazuelo and 5% Graciano on clay-limestone soils with vines that are at least 50 years old.
Tasting notes :
Colour: Garnet red
Nose: Aromas of red fruit, leather, spices and cocoa.
Palate: Elegant on the palate, with silky tannins and a fine acidity that brings balance to the wine. The finish is long with toasty notes.
12bouteilles advice: To be served between 16°C and 18°C, it goes well with red and white meats as well as fish. This wine is best drunk now and can be cellared for several years.
The history of Marqués de Riscal began in 1858 when its founder, Camilo Hurtado de Amézaga, applied the wine-making techniques used in Bordeaux to Elciego. Jean Pineau, master cellarman at Château Lanessan in Haut-Médoc, advised the then 6th Marquis de Riscal to produce wines according to the French system, abandoning a heavy, unrefined "riojan" style. He thus founded the first modern winery in La Rioja.
